Volunteering

Volunteers are a key and integral part of sport and physical activity and for Newport Live as an organisation, especially for the Community Sport & Wellbeing Team who work in schools and communities identifying and supporting children, young people and adults who have an interest in becoming a leader, volunteer, or sports coach in the future.  We have an excellent track record of recruiting, developing, training, and deploying volunteers of all ages; many of which have worked through the volunteer pathway and entered employment with Newport Live or are actively support the delivery of sport and physical activity in local clubs and groups in the City of Newport.

Newport Live’s Volunteer Development Pathway (Young Ambassador Pathway) is available to any young person looking to develop their skills and coaching ability. The purpose of the pathways is to guide volunteers through a structured system to ensure that their needs are met in a professional and tailored manner. There are currently over 40 active volunteers or young ambassadors, running parallel with Sport Wales national youth sport trust programme which has four levels; Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.  All volunteers receive logbooks, a mentor for support, and access to our VolHours app to record and track voluntary hours and achievements alongside courses, and personal achievements.

The team works with a variety of external organisations to provide a range of different coach education courses and qualifications such as Sports Leaders Playmakers, Level 1 and Level 2 as well as 1st 4 Sport Level 2 sports coaching.
