covid-19 update - 13th march

In light of the current risks to the public from Coronavirus (COVID-19) we would like to reassure customers that we are taking a number of measures in the best interests of all of our staff, customers and partners of Newport Live.

You will be aware that information and guidance is being updated daily however, we will continue to follow best practise advice from Public Health Wales (PHW), NHS, UK and Welsh Government and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) to ensure our environment and services are as safe as they can be and we can allow you to continue to participate in your chosen activity. Business as usual is our ambition with the appropriate adaptations and advice from the relevant government agency. As UK Government, Welsh Government legislation, Newport City Council or Newport Live policy changes and adapts to the new phase of government management of the Coronavirus pandemic, we will keep you informed as to how the situation affects our services or buildings and customer interaction.

You will see a change and an increase in our cleaning regime at all Newport Live sites. NHS health guidance signage is now visible and providing guidance in all areas of the buildings. To ensure your safety as our customer we ask for your support and understanding as we introduce and maintain additional measures to mitigate potential risks to health, this currently includes the principal advice of asking you to wash your hands at appropriate times when you are in our buildings and use any sanitising products provided in our activity areas. If we do this it will keep you and our team as safe as we can be at this time.

We ask that you uphold the Public Health Wales guidance to protect yourself and others by always carrying tissues and using them to catch coughs or sneezes. You should bin the tissue, and to kill the germs, wash your hands with soap and water, or use a sanitiser gel. This is the best way to slow the spread of most germs, including Coronavirus.

You should also wash hands with soap and water or hand sanitiser;

  • After breaks and participating in activities

  • Before eating

  • On arrival at any childcare or educational setting

  • After using the toilet

  • Before leaving home

Should you feel unwell and think you have symptoms of Coronavirus, call NHS on 111 for advice. Further information about Coronavirus can be found at https://phw.nhs.wales/topics/latest-information-on-novel-coronavirus-covid-19/

We would like to thank you for your continued support of our charity and cooperation in striving to keep us all safe and our business intact as we continue to inspire people to be happier and healthier.
