We Are Ready To Welcome You!


Following the most recent update from the Welsh Government we are thrilled to announce we will be able to welcome you back to our centres from Monday 10th August. We’re looking forward to getting active together soon!

Coming back will mean you will have to do things a little differently to help protect you, our other customers and our staff, but rest assured, our team will be on hand to support your wellbeing and to inspire you to be happier and healthier, together.

What You Can Expect


When you visit us, you’re going to notice changes we have made to ensure we live up to our commitment to keep everyone safe. We are following guidance set out by UK Active to ensure the safety of our staff and customers. 

These include:

  • All sessions will need to be booked in advance
  • A reduction in the number of users in the building
  • Relocation of gyms and equipment
  • Changes to our timetables and relocation of our classes
  • Enhanced cleaning regimes as well as cleaning and sanitisation products provided
  • Social distance and directional signage to follow as you move around our buildings

The café has reopened at the Regional Pool & Tennis Centre and is operating a takeaway only service.

Booking

Before you join us, you will require a Newport Live card and need to book your session in advance. To book online or via our app, you will need to set up your online account.

Returning Services

Tennis

Tennis Court Bookings are available via a booking only for a maximum of 4 people for 50 minutes.
Off-peak courts will be available from 6:45am and peak courts available from 4:45pm.

Indoor Tennis Courts
Bookings will start at 45 minutes past the hour (e.g. 6.45am - 7.35am).

Outdoor Tennis Courts
Bookings will start on the hour (e.g. 6am – 6.50am)

Members can book courts 8 days in advance and Pay & Play users 4 days in advance.

30-minute tennis court bookings and private lessons will not be available until further notice. Details on tennis lessons can be found in our membership section below.

The tennis lesson programme will return from Tuesday 1st September.

Other Tennis Programmes
Tennis Socials will returm from Tuesday 1st September. Other programmes and accessible tennis sessions will return later in the month.

Gyms

Gyms are re-opening at Active Living Centre, the Geraint Thomas National Velodrome of Wales, Newport Centre and the Regional Pool & Tennis Centre.

Some gyms have been relocated into new spaces to ensure all equipment has been placed 2m apart.

Sessions at the gym will be available every hour and must be booked in advance. You will need to arrive, work out and leave the facility within your 1hour session.

Members can book the gym 8 days in advance and Pay & Play users 4 days in advance.

New Gym at the Regional Pool and Tennis Centre

We have introduced a new gym at the Regional Pool and Tennis Centre including Biocircuit – a brand new 30-minute workout tailored to you. The equipment adapts to your body and guides you as you progress.

Biocircuit will be bookable from 17 August.

Group Exercise Classes

Group exercise classes will be available at Active Living Centre, Geraint Thomas National Velodrome of Wales, Newport Centre and the Regional Pool & Tennis Centre.

Some classes have been relocated into new spaces (including track centre) to ensure all customers can keep 2m apart. The floor will be marked with boxes for each customer to ensure your safety.

Classes must be booked in advance.

Members can book classes 8 days in advance and Pay & Play users 4 days in advance.

Unfortunately, due to changes to capacity in our pools and our timetables we are currently unable to offer Aqua classes. However, we hope to be able to introduce these soon.

Swimming

The City of Newport Swimming Club will return on Monday 10th August.

Public swimming will be available at Active Living Centre and the Regional Pool & Tennis Centre.

Swimming lessons will return from Tuesday 1st September.

The main pools at both venues will be lane swimming only. You will need to book a lane relevant to your swimming speed as there will be no overtaking. Backstroke is not permitted. Sessions will be a maximum of 60 minutes of pool time to allow our staff to clean.

The Teaching Pool will not be available.

Customers will be required to arrive swim ready as lockers and changing cubicles will be unavailable. Customers will be dedicated a 2 metre box on poolside to undress and store equipment. Limited changing facilities will be available following your swim.

Members can book swim sessions 8 days in advance and Pay & Play users 4 days in advance.

Track Cycling and Children’s Cycling are due to return at a later date and details will be confirmed soon.

Memberships and Direct Debits

Active Members

From Monday 10th August 2020 to Sunday 16th August 2020 Active Members will be able to use our facilities free of charge.

From Monday 17th August activities will be chargeable however this will be collected via Direct Debit.

Newport Live will now collect Direct Debits on the first of each month (or closest working day after should the 1st fall on a weekend or bank holiday) and the Direct Debit collected on 1st September 2020 will be at a slightly higher price to include 6 weeks usage from 17th August 2020 to 30th September 2020.

Integrated Swim Programme Memberships

From Monday 10th August 2020 to Sunday 16th August 2020 Integrated Swim Programme Members will be able to use our facilities free of charge.

Fixed Term Members

From Monday 10th August 2020 to Sunday 16th August 2020 Active Members will be able to use our facilities free of charge.

Customers with fixed terms membership at the point of our forced closure will have their membership extended by 148 days to cover the period during which we were closed.

Tennis and Swimming Lesson Memberships

Tennis and Swimming lessons are due to return from 1st September. Details are being finalised and we will be in touch to confirm timetables and what will be happening to Direct Debits and memberships.

Not Ready to Return

If you’re not ready to return just yet and you have not been contacted by a member of our team, please get in touch before 15 August on enquiries@newportlive.co.uk and they will be able to advise on your membership.

Try Les Mills On Demand for free for 30 days. If you want to continue beyond that, you can become a paying subscriber at a special rate of £7.94 per month that we’ve negotiated with Les Mills for Newport Live customers.
